The prison has instituted a policy that amounts to, in short, punishing the group because of an individual transgression. Not sure exactly what they are thinking or hoping to accomplish but that’s the way it is. We are unable to actually police one another, in fact it is a disciplinary infraction to even attempt to do so, therefore this just seems egregious. The punishment is to be confined to our cells, fed sack meals, loss of all privileges, and loss of the use of our tablets (which means no phone nor email, even access to our family photos is denied). All without due process.
One of the guys on our section of 14 inmates was found passed out in his cell. The likelihood of an OD is strong as he has priors for this. He has been a primary reason for the last two lockdowns in this section. Since I’ve been here five weeks, I’m sure he’s has been carried out four times by medical personnel… this is the second time in five days. Even now his property is gone, and he is in lockup and despite them knowing who is doing the wrong and despite the fact he isn’t even on the section, we are on lockdown…or appear to be. If we are, then my tablet will be disabled sometime tomorrow and be down for 15 days.
